DIGITAL DESIGNER

 

Digital Designer needed for dance apparel and footwear brand based in New Jersey. This 130-year-old brand is evolving into new categories and looking for a talented enthusiastic designer with fashion and/or dance experience to round out our creative department. We need someone with a chic aesthetic who understands retail marketing and can design for online and offline media including but not limited to e-commerce, wholesale, digital, social media, and print advertising. We are currently seeking a qualified professional to join us at our Totowa, NJ HQ.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design media including corporate communications, brochures, print & digital ads, emails, web pages and more
  • Design material for multiple digital channels including web, mobile, apps and social platforms
  • Research and brainstorm with team members to create innovative ideas and solutions to effectively communicate concepts
  • Develop and present creative ideas through design work
  • While reporting to marketing operations they will directly work with product designers and influences of product design and must be able to keep original products tone or them while formatting all to commercially acceptable standards and presentations
  • Effectively respond to feedback from team members, and also give constructive feedback
  • Expertise in InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Major plus if you are familiar with Dreamweaver, html/web coding and have the ability to create e-blasts and web pages
  • Be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to work well with team members
  • Manage time and resources effectively to handle several projects at once
  • Proactively seek out new web design technologies tools and trends
  • Have a strong ability to creatively, strategically and efficiently approach projects from start (concept sketches/layouts), to production (client revisions), to preparation (final art files), to finish (vendor coordination)

MUST HAVES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in digital art or design
  • 5+ years of professional design experience with a focus on digital design
  • While html, is not required, familiarity with how each created image translates on commercially email
  • Distribution product like Constant Contact, MailChimp and others
  • Current knowledge of best practices in web design and responsive web design to convey the appropriate TOV to the wholesale, ecommerce, and retail customer
  • Must have a broad understanding of interface technologies and be able to apply that knowledge to create effective digital designs
  • Tactical experience with any of the following Email Service Software i.e. Constant Contact, Drip, CovertKit, AWeber, Get Response, MailChimp, or ActiveCampaign
  • Fluency with core graphic design principles (typography, form, color, composition, imagery, etc.)
  • The capability of solving problems and collaborating with team members
  • Full working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

TECHNICAL DESIGNER / FOOTWEAR & ACCESSORIES DESIGN / PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Execute products as assigned from concept through manufacturing in collaboration with the various manufacturing teams. Responsible for converting 3D samples and design briefs into product that meets the needs of the consumer and can be successfully and profitably commercialized and produced. Additionally, oversee the direct development process between design and the factory. Sourcing activities as required.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Apparel Designer is responsible to concept, create and refine compelling designs for higher impact and more complex products and collections that are inspired, meaningful and brand right. This includes research of trend at macro, industry and competitive levels, combined with knowledge gained from consumer insights to inform design process. The Senior Apparel Designer will actively ideate and refine ideas to form a design point of view and reach creative solutions for seasonal product designs. Through the process they will have greater product responsibility and work closely with design partners, materials and development to define all aspects of product design direction. They will be a key partner within the overall design team, with expectation to advance peer and overall team achievements. They will collaborate with partners and overall supply chain to ensure design vision and intent is delivered to Capezio members. Models and acts in accordance with Capezio guiding values and mission.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Present clear concepts, design briefs and associated research
  • Sketch, CAD, 3D render artwork to develop and facilitate commercialization
  • Ensure manufacturability of product concepts and use knowledge and tools effectively and appropriately to achieve product objectives
  • Select and use the most appropriate communication tools to successfully manage the product creation cycle from concept through commercialization and production.
  • Manage sampling and protoyping across geographies and plan and organize resources to achieve project goals
  • Engineer and Commercialize products on time to the target price in accordance with the design and technical requirements maintaining an emphasis on performance, quality and integrity
  • Engineer products with a focus on quality and manufacturing efficiency
  • Ensure manufacturing explores new concepts, processes and materials as requested by Design
  • Use PLM and maintain integrity of all data
  • Commercialize all stages in accordance with the confirmed development and design specifications while emphasizing product performance integrity
  • Deliver all development and commercialization samples on time, including prototypes, fit & wear, etc.
  • Communicate timely and effectively the commercialization status to all necessary functions and departments
  • Work directly with manufacturing to ensure timeliness to market, costing and expense structures are met, sourcing activities are thorough and expedient, etc.
  • Build up category specific competence within the team and ensure product is executed accordingly
  • Support technical training when needed
  • Responsible for the quality, accuracy and price of all samples executed and shipped
  • Assist manufacturing in overseeing the development process, including building capabilities as needed
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with design, quality, development and manufacturing as well as other key parties
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as needed
  • Establish best practices by category to identify product and testing requirements to assure product performance by applying product integrity through physical and fit/wear testing
  • Consistently review and execute project deliverables and communicate status
  • Visit production line with focus on quality and process improvement as required

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 Years experience in production creation (development, engineering, R&D services, or like experience)
  • Strong verbal/written skills
  • Adobe Photoshop® and Illustrator®
  • Solid works or similar program
  • Clear understanding and solid working knowledge of tools that support product creation process

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
